As rumors started to swirl before the end of the 2023/2024 NFL year, I was tasked with coming up with a creative idea to show Bill Belichick’s career thus far. Rather than using bar graphs or usual stat graphics, I thought a retro video game would be a fun engaging way to highlight different moments from his time in the NFL. When Pac-Man popped up in my mind, all the pieces just sort of fell right into place. Belichick would go around the board collecting wins as he chased Super Bowls while collecting power-ups that would callback old references from his career. This would all go on while being chased by the “ghosts” of players that had either beaten him in the Super Bowl or caused obstacles during any given NFL season.
